Sunquest Professional Services to Implement Clinical Workflow Best Practices & Efficient Business Processes

TUCSON, Ariz.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Sunquest Information Systems, Inc., a market leader in laboratory information systems, today announced a $4.6 million sale to ACL Laboratories to standardize on the Sunquest CoPathPlus Anatomic Pathology System, and to integrate it enterprise-wide with Sunquests Laboratory Information System (LIS) and other solutions. ACL Laboratories has been a Sunquest customer since 1987 and currently uses the Sunquest LIS and complementary solutions for Commercial Laboratory, Financials, Instrument Manager and Application Manager in its central laboratories, hospitals, and clinics.

Sunquests Professional Services Group will implement and integrate the enterprise solutions utilizing clinical workflow best practices and effective business processes to maximize ACLs investment and resources. The project, scheduled for completion in Fall 2009, also includes new hardware systems and architecture to provide high availability and disaster recovery for all of the Sunquest products.

ACL has been a satisfied user of Sunquests LIS for over twenty years and we also rely on several of their other complementary solutions for the lab, said Sandy Butschli, vice president of information services for ACL Laboratories. We decided to standardize on the Sunquest CoPathPlus solution because its tight integration with their LIS will enable us to take advantage of significant workflow enhancements to reduce redundant processes and ultimately improve our turn around times. We are also very impressed with their development plans for future enhancements.

ACL is a recognized leader in providing laboratory services to healthcare organizations and very advanced in its utilization of diagnostic information technologies, said Lisa Cutts, vice president of sales for Sunquest Information Systems, Inc. Pathology informatics is an integral part of Sunquests strategic plan. Were especially pleased that ACL has chosen to move forward with our solution based on its LIS-integrated features and unique functionality.
