THE INTEGRATED HEALTH UNIVERSITY NETWORK (IHUN) – LAVAL UNIVERSITY COMMUNICATES IN DIGITAL – ONE STEP FORWARD FOR PATIENTS
MONTREAL (CANADA), January 7, 2010 – Aurora Interactive Ltd., a world leader in digital pathology communications announced today that the company has won a comprehensive purchase agreement for its mScope Clinical and mScope Education communication platforms following a Request for Proposal from the Government of Québec for the Québec Health Dossier – Telepathology system: Information, distribution, viewing and image analysis. The system includes Aurora’s clinical and educational product software used for remote diagnosis and collaboration between pathologists.
“This is the beginning of a new era, one of collaborative pathology which will allow Québec patients treated in the Network’s hospitals and health centers to access the best resources from the Network no matter where they are” mentioned Dr. Bernard Têtu, Pathologist at the Centre hospitalier universitaire de Québec (CHUQ) and Medical Director for the Telepathology Project for the IHUN – Laval University. Moreover, Dr. Têtu added: “The use of digital pathology will allow us to improve the quality of our diagnosis while offering better medical education opportunities by facilitating access to second opinions and by the implementation of a quality control system”.

The Corporation d’hébergement du Québec, as owner of the equipments has made the acquisition of telepathology systems with a view to implement them in 21 different sites.
The mScope platform includes three distinct applications:
1. mScope Education: modules for on-line research publication, teaching for students and interns, continued medical education and quality control;
2. mScope Clinical : modules for remote diagnosis (including those done in real-time), remote expertise (including those for second opinions), the creation of a data base; and finally;
3. Universal mScope viewer: modules to view all images from the hospital information systems network.
