SUNNYVALE, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–BioImagene, Inc., the leading provider of end-to-end digital pathology solutions, and LigoLab, innovative provider of clinical laboratory information system, announced the development of an interface between Virtuoso™, BioImagene’s digital pathology workflow software, and LigoLab’s anatomic pathology module of laboratory information system (LIS). The new interface gives labs using Virtuoso and LigoLab shared access to critical information and functionality from both systems, optimizing the clinical workflow.

The Virtuoso LigoLab integration provides pathologists access to relevant case and patient information when working with digital slides, the ability to use an extensive list of computer-assisted image analysis tools, and embed images and quantitative results in comprehensive laboratory reports.

“This integration offers efficiency improvements in routine case sign-out. Pathologists now have access to complete case/patient history and additionally to whole-slide scanned images. It also offers integration of computer assisted interpretation of slides with selected images in comprehensive laboratory reports that are delivered to the clinician,” said Suren Avunjian, senior vice president of marketing and sales at LigoLab. “Our partnership with BioImagene demonstrates our continuing commitment to innovation with emphasis to integration as a crucial part of comprehensive laboratory information systems.”

“Virtuoso is a role-based system that enables pathologists to improve the efficiency and quality of the various steps in the anatomic pathology workflow,” said Vikram Mohan, senior director of marketing at BioImagene. “The new integration with LigoLab allows our laboratory customers to have all the necessary information from the LIS available while they digitally sign-out a case. We believe this integration significantly improves the turnaround time for cases.”

Demonstrations of the new Virtuoso LigoLab interface will be available at BioImagene’s Booth 101 at the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology (USCAP) Annual Meeting, which is taking place March 22-24, 2010, at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel in Washington, D.C.
