A Review of PathXL’s Experience of Pathology Visions 2013

BY Dr. Keith J. Kaplan

As Pathology Visions came to a close on 1st October and after a few manic days our team embarked on the dreaded task of packing up the booth and starting the journey back to the UK. Despite the physical tiredness from what was close to a week on the go our team returned back to the office energetic and excited from they believe to be a successful conference for PathXL.

PathXLThe Digital Pathology Associations (DPA) Pathology Visions conference has come a long way over the years, originally it began as an Aperio user-group show but has more recently transformed into a Digital Pathology specialty meeting. The conference has been a meeting place for individuals with interest in this area since the market was born and has remained throughout its evolution which is a big reason why we attend each year and will continue to do so.  This September our team noted and really appreciated the increased knowledge of digital pathology among attendees (which ties in with our prediction on the adoption of digital pathology) this allowed for high quality discussions of the subject.  As adoption continues to rise, so does the relevance and demand of our software products.

There were around 30 exhibitors in attendance at Pathology Visions with around 200 visitors present.  This made it a much more intimate event in comparison to previous conferences we have (The European Congress of Pathology had in excess of 2,700 visitors).  The team loved this more intimate setting though as it meant they could spend more time chatting to the visitors which included some of our existing clients.  This allowed them to really take the time in showing them the cutting edge solutions available here at PathXL. With quite a lot of businesses exhibiting we also had the opportunity to chat and mingle with those in our market which is always a great opportunity for potential collaborations as well as growing our network.

It was noted that there was a great amount of curiosity and excitement around PathXL and our products at this conference. Many still view us a relatively new to the market and were extremely keen to know more about us which was extremely pleasing. This also illustrates how important it is for us to continue to attend industry conference as it’s vital to building our brand exposure and demonstrates our commitment to establishing ourselves in the industry.

This really has been a fantastic year for us and as our prestige continues to grow we hope by the end of the year our profile will be further buoyed as we are well on track to unveil a groundbreaking development for both digital pathology and tumor analysis.

This development will help us make our mark in tumor analysis and we hope to continue to deliver and improve on this long in 2014 and beyond.
