SAN FRANCISCO, CA — Pathology Visions 2014 (Booth #103) — Mikroscan Technologies, a pioneer in desktop whole-slide scanning systems for pathology, biology and research applications, continues its leadership position, unveiling new software solutions for its core instrument, the Mikroscan D2.

Mikroscan has added four applications to its Mikroscan D2, a compact desktop whole slide scanning system which yields big advantages for pathologists, physicians and patients who can scan, view and share whole slide images from anywhere in the world, decreasing turn-around time. These applications include:

  • Mikroscan D2 Broadcast Streamer Software makes the Mikroscan D2 a real-time conferencing tool, with live access from the same room, across the building, or around the world via tablet PC’s or Google Chrome. It provides pathologists and specialists with offsite communication as well as shared control and manipulation of slide viewing, providing versatility well beyond the capabilities of conferencing with multi-headed microscopes and fixed scans.
  • Mikroscan and AccuCore have partnered to create a widely applicable Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) integration, enabling users to see all images associated with any open case.
  • Mikroscan Deskstation is a new desktop application enabling users to view low and high magnifications at the same time, enhancing how they work.
  • Mikroscan PMA (Pathology Microdissection Aid) enables manual micro dissection from a distance.

“We’re very excited to be doing what we do best at Mikroscan, innovating methods of integrating Digital Pathology in a practical fashion, and making it available, widespread, cutting edge, and affordable,” said Victor Casas, Mikroscan CTO. “These announcements are further proof of our dedication to improving technology to help advance the industry as a whole.”
