Other Prominent Vendors in the market are:

Apollo Pacs, Aurora Interactive, Corista, Definiens AG, Digipath, Huron Digital Pathology, Indica Labs, Kanteron Systems, Ligolab, Mikroscan Technologies, Nikon Instruments, Omnyx, PathXL, Pixcelldata, Sunquest Information Systems and Visiopharm.

Commenting on the report, an analyst from the report’s team said: “One key trend upcoming in the market is the increased usage of hosted technology. The market is witnessing an increase in demand for hosted-based solutions, which enable healthcare pathologists to increase their efficiency and reduce the cost of deploying valuable resources in an organization’s IT infrastructure.”

According to the report, one of the major drivers of the market is the rising number of cases in oncology. Digital technology helps the medical system in providing advanced diagnosis, enabling pathologists and physicians to obtain high-quality patient information from anywhere. This results in faster access to information and is expected to reduce medical errors, thereby giving the right results on time.

Further, the report states that one of the major challenges in this market is the high cost of implementation of the digital pathology system. Its applications require proper implementation and this is usually expensive. In addition to capital costs, maintenance costs of such systems can also be high.

The study was conducted using an objective combination of primary and secondary information including inputs from key participants in the industry. The report contains a comprehensive market and vendor landscape in addition to a SWOT analysis of the key vendors.

Totally agree that one of the major drivers of the digital pathology market is to increase efficiency and quality of cancer care. Digital pathology enables an integrated approach to cancer diagnosis and treatment by facilitating sharing of clinical images and data across specialties such as radiology, oncology, pathology etc.

We will probably also see many benefits of the additional functionality that digital pathology brings, such as different types of image analysis. However, the challenge will most likely be, as the report mention, to justify the investment and to integrate digital pathology into a high production workflow environment smoothly.
