Team Level Scientists: Scientist I and II, Senior Scientist I and II

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Scientist will participate in the research and development of state of the art detection, diagnosis, prognosis, and prediction algorithms in the medical imaging domain − with emphasis toward digitized histology. More specifically, the Scientist will work with pathologists and other computer vision experts to create algorithms that extract and quantitate relevant image-based information from digitized histology specimens. Additionally, the Scientist will help build sophisticated statistical models that leverage this information − along with other relevant clinicopathologic features − to predict disease progression and response to therapy.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Invent and design compete product algorithms using innovative image analysis and pattern recognition methods
  • Design and facilitate experiments and be capable of performing in-depth analysis, interpretation of experimental results and rendering comprehensive conclusions
  • Investigate and evaluate new technologies
  • Collaborate with biologists, computer scientists, pathologists and other internal and external teams to optimize product development
  • Collaborate with companies, research institutions, and clinical partners
  • Create patentable ideas and provide support for patent applications
  • Responsible for writing reports, methods, specification and procedures, as well as presenting technical data and communicating results

IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • R&D experience completing medical algorithm products from inception to realization using image analysis, computer vision, and/ or machine learning as well as rigorous analysis, modeling, and scientific and engineering judgment
  • Experience solving image-related problems with good understanding the technology behind each
  • Experience in medical imaging, particularly digital pathology
  • Strong image processing background with experience in novel algorithm design
  • Experience developing optimized, robust commercial image analysis algorithms
  • Experience with segmentation and unsupervised/supervised classification strategies
  • Experience with probability and statistical modeling
  • PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or equivalent
  • Strong programming skills (C, C++, Matlab)
  • Strong publication record
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills

Business Unit Manager

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Business Unit Manager is a highly-experienced manager with exceptional skills as a large-scale project team lead and a successful background as a medical image processing engineer for an emerging/ developing company. This Manager is responsible for top-level leadership for the execution of the company’s companion diagnostic algorithm strategy and performance. These activities specifically include the oversight of the company’s algorithm development department including research scientists, pathologists, software development, data collection, regulatory compliance and interaction with the company’s executive leadership.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Product Development – define the scope and lead the planning and implementation of a specific product
  • Validate the marketability of the product based on user, market and performance requirements
  • Facilitate the definition of the product including goals and deliverables; gathers new product information and validates the accuracy of that information
  • Create a detailed work plan which identifies and sequences the activities needed to successfully complete the product
  • Develop a project plan for each product – including the resources (time, money, equipment, et cetera) required to complete the product
  • Constantly monitor and report on progress of the product to all stakeholders
  • Ensure implementation of a Quality Management System

IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • MBA or M.S. in Management related to image processing, or equivalent work experience, PhD degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of management experience related to the medical field with emphasis on the engineering of image processing algorithms
  • Knowledge of medical industry with deep biological, medical or engineering proficiency and FDA regulatory compliance
  • Experience with Agile/ Scrum methodologies
  • Proficiency in the use of business computer applications
  • Strong collaborative skills
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Understanding of intellectual property rights compliance and enforcement
