Optra Systems Announces Dr. Clive Taylor and Dr. David Rimm Have Joined the Company’s Advisory Board

BY Dr. Keith J. Kaplan

Dr. Clive Taylor is currently Professor of Pathology at University of Southern California and Editor in Chief of Applied Immunohistochemistry and Molecular Morphology. Professor Clive Taylor attended medical school at the University of Cambridge and completed his doctoral studies in Immunology at Oxford. “I have been watching the development of the Optra scanning system and solutions over the past two years and had the opportunity in that time to examine some 500 Whole Slide Images uploaded to the Optra ‘cloud app’—very impressive! I am looking forward to working with the image informatics and analysis modules as a member of the Advisory team.”

Dr. David Rimm is a Professor in the Department of Pathology at the Yale University School of Medicine. He completed an MD-PhD at Johns Hopkins University Medical School followed by a Pathology Residency at Yale and a Cytopathology Fellowship at the Medical College of Virginia. He is board certified in Anatomic Pathology and Cytopathology. “I am very enthusiastic about the potential of the new Optra Scan platform. Its low price point, high image quality and short scan time suggests the potential to democratize image collection, which will increase the opportunity for better standardization of companion diagnostic testing in pathology.”

“We are pleased to welcome Dr. Taylor and Dr. Rimm and to leverage their expertise as we work to make Digital Pathology accessible to the widest possible community of researchers and clinicians,” said Abhi Gholap, Optra Systems’ CEO. “As accomplished and highly respected pathologists in their own right, Dr. Taylor and Dr. Rimm’s perspectives will greatly benefit our efforts to harness Digital Pathology image data to accelerate diagnosis, the discovery of new biomarkers and improve patient outcomes.”
