OptraSCAN is a Gold Sponsor, with CEO Abhi Gholap presenting
“Empowering Asia through on-Demand Digital Pathology”

The Asia community is at an inflection point where cancer rates are rapidly growing and pathology resources are dwindling. Digital pathology technologies have the ability to fill voids in resource limited areas and remote regions. Secondary consults and surgical pathology can also benefit from digital pathology to accelerate turn-around times and improve patient therapies. In this presentation, we’ll review the current cancer landscape in Asia, discuss how technology is improving cancer diagnosis and treatment, and review how On-Demand Digital Pathology can accelerate initiatives to improve early detection, connect pathologists using telepathology consultations, and reduce overall times for diagnosis and treatment.

Pathology Visions 2017, San Diego, Oct 1-3: Booth #11

Pre-Conference Workshop: October 1, 2:30-3:00 pm International Telepathology and Frozen Section Consultations Using Digital Pathology” https://digitalpathologyassociation.org/optrascan-preconference-workshop

Presented by Dr. Jianyu Rao

, Professor of Pathology and Epidemiology, Director, Cytopathology Division, Director, International Telepathology Ronald Reagan Medical Center, UCLA Health, USA

The increase in cancer rates, shortage of pathologists and limited resources in remote areas, create a global burden on the pathology system. In this presentation, we’ll discuss how the UCLA Health system established an international telepathology system to aid pathologists and patients in China. We’ll also discuss how new technologies, such as OptraSCAN On-Demand Digital Pathology, can enable international and domestic telepathology networks to attain lower turn-around times for secondary consults, remote frozen sections review, and better overall outcomes for pathologists and patients.
