Pathology company, Sonic Healthcare (SHL.AX: Quote, Profile, Research), has paid US$33 million (A$37.5 million) for two diagnostics businesses in the United States. Sonic bought American Clinical Services in New Jersey and Woodbury Clinical Laboratory in Tennessee. They are the latest in a string of acquisitions for Sonic, which spent A$1 billion buying laboratories in 2007. Company secretary, Paul Alexander, said Sonic would continue to target acquisitions in the US and Europe. (Australian Financial Review – www.afr.com)
