Apparently I am one of the few people with Internet service to not see the “Thrift Shop” video which has nearly 400,000,000 views on YouTube.
Here is the pathology version of that video with a respectable 400,000 views in about 2 months probably making it the most watched pathology-related video on the web.
Apparently some are not too thrilled this video has gone viral while others support the idea of pathologists doing other things other than pathology in a story on MSN entitled “This pathology lab’s ‘Thrift Shop’ cover is our new favorite thing“
The Huffington Post also commented “Never before has hiphop been combined with so many microscopes. The University of Florida’s pathology lab made a parody of Macklemore’s “Thrift Shop” that’s super sciencey.”
This is NOT G-rated. While I do not necessarily condone the lyrics or the associated commentary on the YouTube site I do appreciate the University of Florida Department of Pathology, Immunology and Laboratory Medicine attendings, house staff and technical staff for their creativity and getting this song into pathology-related content. For those of us who lack the nerve or creativity to do this I support their ability to entertain and remind us it is acceptable to laugh at ourselves which we should all appreciate.
