Mikroscan Partners with Proscia for Cloud-Based Digital Pathology Platform
Seamless integration of image acquisition, storage, management, and analysis
Mikroscan Technologies, innovators and manufacturers of live robotic microscopy and whole slide imaging (WSI) systems, announces that it has signed a partnership agreement with Proscia to fully integrate Mikroscan products into the Proscia digital pathology workflow management platform. Under this agreement, Mikroscan will offer its customers Proscia’s cloud-based image storage, management, and analysis software solutions.
Coupled with Mikroscan’s next-generation robotic microscope, its customers now have an affordable entry point for those seeking a turn-key digital pathology solution that can accommodate the entire range of pathology services that a lab might provide. This software is perfect for use cases that need an integrated and flexible workflow to eliminate barriers to workload efficiency, including secondary opinions, remote consultations, and tumor boards.
“We share a common vision with the Proscia team in providing improved access to pathology services around the world,” said Martin Stuart Ph.D., President & CEO of Mikroscan. “The solution must focus on extending the pathologist’s reach beyond their office in a major medical center and out into the population.”
Mikroscan solutions offer both live remote-controlled microscopy and low volume digital pathology scanning*. Live remote microscopy with five true objective magnifications (up to 60x) is ideally suited for frozen sections and Rapid On-Site Evaluation of adequacy (ROSE), case review, second opinions, and quality assurance, while scanned images permit archival and retrieval of digital slides for tumor boards and education. Proscia’s leveraging of Amazon Web Services (AWS) is ideally suited to supporting Mikroscan’s growing global presence, especially within regions where access to a qualified pathologist expertise remains a significant challenge.
“This partnership with Mikroscan will extend our reach into the growing digital pathology market,” said David West, CEO of Proscia. “Proscia’s platform and Mikroscan’s robust scanning technology are the core building blocks for hospital, academic, and commercial labs to build a digital platform. They will be able to generate additional revenue and improve workflow efficiency, all while driving accuracy and increased confidence in results that benefits both pathologists and patients.”
