MESOPATH is a group of experts, specialists in the histological and cytopathological diagnosis of mesothelioma. The Léon Bérard Cancer Centre in Lyon, France, hosts the network that connects all these specialists at the national level. A complete tele-pathology solution was deployed including a high-speed scanner, CaloPix image management software and the sharing platform TeleSlide. The main objective is to organize the review of suspected mesothelioma cases in a standardized manner. Each reported case must be reviewed by three network experts who communicate their diagnosis to the responsible pathologist to reach consensus. The network is very active: more than 1,300 cases are received each year for proofreading.
