Determining lymph node involvement for breast cancer patients constitutes an integral part of the treatment decision. The lymph node assessment is usually performed by an expert pathologist using one or multiple hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) stained tissue sections per lymph node. Given that several lymph nodes are accessed per patient, the workload quickly increases for the pathologist.
