3DHISTECH Digital Slide Scanner Used in First COVID-19 Diagnosis in China
The first COVID-19 (novel coronavirus pneumonia) case biopsy pathological diagnosis report was released in Shenzhen, China on Feb 18, 2020.
A PANNORAMIC® SCAN II digital slide scanner was used to determine the diagnosis of a 66-year-old male patient, who was admitted to the hospital with complaints of fever and cough. His lung tissue was sampled extensively for examination and immunohistochemistry results led to a diagnosis of COVID-19.
“We are proud to be part of this effort along with our exclusive distributor partner Danjier and see how our state-of-the-art PANNORAMIC® digital slide scanners contribute to a faster and better diagnosis of COVID-19, helping Chinese health authorities in their efforts to curb the spreading of the virus.” said Béla Molnár, CEO, 3DHISTECH.
