NIH Launches a Virtual Space to Help Awardees Showcase Technology
The “NIH Pipeline to Partnerships (P2P)” a web based resource with virtual space helps NIH licensees and NIH SBIR/STTR awardees showcase their technologies and product development to an audience of potential strategic partners, investors, and licensees. P2P was developed jointly between the NIH Office of Technology Transfer (OTT) and the NIH SBIR and STTR Program Offices.
According to Jo Anne Goodnight, Coordinator of NIH’s SBIR/STTR programs, “Since expensive pre-clinical and clinical studies are required to bring novel products to the market, many of these projects need additional financing, licensing deals, or strategic partnerships. We see the P2P database as an important resource to help small businesses make a successful leap from discovery to commercialization of the products resulting from innovative biomedical and behavioral research.”
A pipeline of available technologies is now on the OTT web site www.ott.nih.gov/P2P, plus there is an index that is searchable by category of technology and stage of development. NIH will approve all postings but will not be involved directly in the partnering activities.
