Deciphex CEO at International AI Summit in Dublin
Our founder and CEO Donal O’Shea was on stage at the International AI Summit in Dublin yesterday, the flagship AI event of Ireland’s EU Council Presidency.
He joined Áine Kerr, Dorothy Creaven (Jentic), Eoin Hinchy (Tines) and Guillaume Princen (Anthropic) on the panel “Developing Global AI Leaders: From Start-ups to Scale-ups”.
Donal brought a pathology perspective to the discussion. Every 11 seconds, someone in the EU receives a cancer diagnosis, and behind each diagnosis is a pathologist. Yet the shortage of pathologists continues to grow. AI’s role is to reduce routine workloads, giving pathologists more time for the complex decisions that require human expertise and judgement.
He also highlighted a critical barrier to adoption: clinicians need access to AI that is approved for clinical use. Europe must make the path to approval more accessible to smaller companies so that innovation can reach the clinicians and patients who need it.
