Digital Pathology Association Expands Educational Offerings at Pathology Visions, ASCP and NSH
The Digital Pathology Association (DPA), a non-profit organization comprised of pathologists, scientists, technologists and representatives from the industry that facilitates education and awareness of digital pathology applications, is offering more educational opportunities in 2013. In the coming weeks, the DPA will host a seminar at the American Society for Clinical Pathology’s (ASCP’s) annual conference, a workshop at the National Society for Histotechnology’s (NSH’s) annual conference and offer 12.5 continuing medical education (CME) credits at their annual conference, Pathology Visions.
On Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at 10:00 AM CST the DPA will host a seminar titled “Are You Ready to Implement Digital Pathology in Your Laboratory?” at the ASCP annual conference in Chicago, IL at the Hyatt Regency Chicago. The seminar will be presented by DPA President, Dr. Kim Dickinson, and DPA Membership Chair, Dr. Eric F. Glassy in Columbus Rooms A and B. This seminar will educate attendees on the adoption barriers to digital pathology, the applications and uses of digital pathology, and demonstrate how digital pathology is used in the community hospital and commercial laboratory setting. On Saturday, September 21, 2013 at 8:00 AM EST the DPA will host a workshop titled “The Pixels Are Coming, The Pixels Are Coming! – The Digital Pathology Revolution Has Begun” at the NSH annual conference in Providence, RI at the Rhode Island Convention Center in room 551 A/B. The workshop will be presented by Elizabeth Chilpala, DPA Chief Financial Officer, William DeSalvo, a DPA Board member, and Jared Schwartz, active DPA member and Chief Medical Officer of Leica Biosystems. This workshop will give attendees a basic knowledge of digital pathology and the applications in a histology laboratory, help them understand the infrastructural needs and pitfalls of digital pathology, and discuss with them the workflow changes that occur. Finally, the DPA will be hosting their annual conference, Pathology Visions, September 29 – October 1, 2013 in San Antonio, TX at the Grand Hyatt San Antonio. Throughout the conference, attendees will have the opportunity to earn 12.5 CME credits. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about a broad range of topics relevant to digital pathology through workshops and presentations, while also getting direct access to industry leaders.
