A Pathologist Rants in Favor of Health Care Reform
Shared this several years ago after Dr. Uthman had produced this. Fun to look back now after 4 years and see what parts of this (many) are actually realistic as reform gets rolled out.
Ed Uthman, MD, has been a practicing physician for 32 years and has worked in the health care field for 41 years, starting at age 16 as a nursing assistant in a 30-bed hospital. He is currently in private practice in Houston but previously worked in academic medicine. He is past-president of the Houston Society of Clinical Pathologists and has served as Deputy State Commissioner for Inspection and Accreditation of the College of American Pathologists. He holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from Rhodes College and an MD degree from the University of Tennessee, Memphis. He is the author of the book, Understanding Anemia (University Press of Mississippi, 1998).
