Honored to be a part of the editorial board of the Journal of Pathology Informatics (JPI) and anyone reading this with an interest in pathology informatics owes Anil and Liron a debt of gratitude for starting a journal on the subject and sustaining the effort now 4 years later. Understanding how difficult it can be to think critically about a project or topic, performing the study, writing the manuscript and going through the peer review process can be a challenge unto itself but actually finding reviewers, editors, publishers and sponsors to support the actual publication seems like a full-time job all itself.
Here’s to more high quality work at a low cost to authors and readers and 4 more years (and more) of growth of JPI!
Please join the API Council in congratulating Drs. Anil Parwani and Liron Pantanowitz, founding editors of the Journal of Pathology Informatics (JPI), on JPI’s 4th anniversary! In 2009, Dr. Pantanowitz approached API with the idea to launch JPI, which the API Council readily approved. Drs. Parwani and Pantanowitz were selected by the API Council to be the Editors-in-Chief and an Editorial board was subsequently established. The first Editorial Board meeting was held in Boston, MA, at PathInfo 2010 on September 21, 2010, where the decision was made to add Junior Editorial Board members as part of JPI.

The Journal of Pathology Informatics (JPI) is an open access peer-reviewed journal dedicated to the advancement of pathology informatics. This is the official journal of the Association for Pathology Informatics (API). The journal aims to publish broadly about pathology informatics and freely disseminate all articles worldwide. This journal is of interest to pathologists, informaticians, academics, researchers, health IT specialists, information officers, IT staff, vendors, and anyone with an interest in informatics. We encourage submissions from anyone with an interest in the field of pathology informatics. We publish all types of papers related to pathology informatics including original research articles, technical notes, reviews, viewpoints, commentaries, editorials, book reviews, and correspondence to the editors. All submissions are subject to peer review by the well-regarded editorial board and by expert referees in appropriate specialties. The JPI is published by MedKnow a division of Wolters Kluwer Health.
