Leica Biosystems Launches Aperio ePathAccess, Powered by Dell – A Secure and Scalable Pathology Collaboration in North America
VISTA, CA – May 15, 2014 — Leica Biosystems, a global leader in anatomic pathology workflow solutions and automation, announced the launch of Aperio ePathAccess, a cloud-based software solution powered by Dell’s Unified Clinical Archive (UCA) for secure pathology collaboration. Aperio ePathAccess provides direct access to sub-specialty pathologists for secondary case review, allowing 94% faster access to slides and 24/7 security through the UCA solution.
“By deploying Aperio ePathAccess, healthcare institutions can significantly lessen the time and cost of regular shipping methods for external collaboration. Studies have shown a 76% faster turn-around-time using our technology over traditional secondary case review,” said Stephen White, vice president, corporate development, Leica Biosystems, Pathology Imaging. “The expert pathologist also experiences a gain in workflow efficiency by utilizing their time more effectively.”
“Dell and Leica Biosystems are breaking new ground in healthcare by using a secure cloud platform to connect pathologists throughout the U.S. and, ultimately, to improve the quality of care patients receive,” said Sid Nair, vice president and general manager, Healthcare and Life Sciences, Dell Services.
