Dr. Hunt’s keynote presentation for Pathology Visions 2014 is titled “#SelfieSunday #TransformationTuesday #ThrowbackThursday”.

Diagnostic pathology has always been an evolving discipline and one that embraces new technological advancements. Over the decades, some novel approaches have been quickly adopted into clinical use and others have taken years to reach their potential, across the spectrum of both anatomic and clinical pathology. Among the many factors that drive the adoption of promising new technologies, the ability for it to replace old or outdated approaches is one of the most important. And, of course in today’s environment of extreme cost control and focus on efficiency, new technologies are facing even greater hurdles. During this lecture, attendees will take a tour of some new innovations of the past decade that have succeeded and failed to be adopted for pathology practice. Dr. Hunt will explore some of the potential drivers of uptake in the modern laboratory with a particular emphasis on financial pressures and cost analysis.
