Leica Microsystems Joins New Open Board for Imaging Industry
Leica Microsystems has helped to jointly establish an open industry board for the imaging technology sector.
The company has allied with Nikon, Zeiss, FEI, Olympus, SVI and Photometrics to found the board, which is linked to the upcoming European research infrastructure for imaging, Euro-BioImaging.
It aims to facilitate interaction between key imaging industry players and academic end users, enabling timely understanding of customer needs and bolstering innovation in biomedical science, while also strengthening the position of the companies in question.
Euro-BioImaging will be composed of imaging facilities called Nodes distributed throughout Europe, giving researchers access to state-of-the-art imaging instruments and training activities. All companies on the new board have agreed that this represents an excellent testing model for novel instruments and technologies.
Leica’s Christoph Thumser, representing all companies as the first chair of the board, said: “Imaging companies are very motivated to establish closer interaction with users and to contribute to training activities, ensuring the best use of instruments.”
The company is based in Germany and has six manufacturing facilities in five countries, as well as sales and service organisations in 20 nations.
