We are looking for Research Assistant in Digital Pathology within the Center for Medical Image Science and Visualization

Your future work assignments
A research assistant will essentially support researchers with various activities, for example, data gathering, experiment preparation, result documentation and analysis, and scientific writing.

Diagnostic pathology is an area of utmost importance for health care. For example, the cancer care chain relies on fast and accurate cellular analyses of tissue samples, i.e., histopathology. The demands are increasing due to an ageing population and an expanding set of specialized diagnostics, while pathologists are an increasingly scarce resource. The latest generation of scanners for microscopy slides, however, provides exciting possibilities to work with visualization and image analysis techniques in order to achieve new levels of efficiency and accuracy.

This position as research assistant is devoted to applied research in image analysis to address the challenges in diagnostic histopathology. The position is part of a larger project on digital pathology solutions headed by CMIV (www.liu.se/cmiv/digital-patologi), in which method development is being conducted at a high technical level but also thoroughly addressing the demands from real clinical usage. This means that there is a work environment with many experts working towards similar goals including a close collaboration with prominent pathologists as well as industrial partners such as Sectra.
