Today, over 16 million tissue slides have been digitized and stored in the medical-grade iSyntax format by pathology laboratories for primary diagnosis. We want to unlock this wealth of information by empowering software developers and research scientists with the Pathology Software Development Kit (SDK) that allows for full access to data stored in the pathology iSyntax format, so that direct read capability can be implemented in your own developed software applications.

To find out more about the Philips Pathology SDK and how it is being used today by IBEX register for our customer webinar on August 29th – Experiences of developing AI-driven clinical decision support tools using native iSyntax Whole Slide Images.

Do more with iSyntax images

The Pathology SDK opens up new research opportunities for further visualization, data mining, and image processing of histopathology images using third-party applications, beyond the Philips IntelliSite Pathology Solution. For example, the development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) deep learning algorithms could benefit from the pathology iSyntax format’s high-dynamic range to increase the sensitivity and specificity of tumor detection software. Moreover, the Pathology SDK will allow conversion of iSyntax images into other formats.

Enabling best performancePhilips is committed to an open platform and enabling pathologists and researchers to unlock the power of digital pathology. The Philips Pathology SDK provides a software toolset to access the data and information stored in pathology iSyntax file format. Third-party applications will be able to achieve the same performance as our Philips IntelliSite Pathology Solution’s viewer, server, and storage software.
Philips Open Pathology PortalThe Philips Pathology SDK can be downloaded from http://openpathology.philips.com . The release includes support for high-speed reading of data stored in iSyntax files, bindings for Python, and distributables for Windows and Linux-based operating systems. The Open Pathology Portal includes detailed documentation, sample codes and FAQ to get you started.
