datapathologyMOROCCO – DataPathology, a MedTech startup specializing in digital pathology, is raising 2 MDH (US$$223,000) to transform the pathological diagnosis system and improve the services provided to practitioners and patients.

This capital increase was carried out with the investment company Witamax, founded by Southbridge A&I and Axxam Family Office.

DataPathology raises 2 MDH from the investment company Witamax, founded by Southbridge A&I and Axxam Family Office. The objective of this operation for the start-up is to transform the pathological diagnosis system and improve the services provided to practitioners and patients.

Co-founded in 2020 by Hicham El Attar, pathologist, and Mohammed El Khannoussi, SI & Data consultant, DataPathology fights against the lack and delay of diagnosis of cancer patients in areas suffering from medical desert, especially in Africa.

Its strategy is based on supporting hospitals, multidisciplinary clinics and pathology centers, to cope, on the one hand, with the increase in cancer cases, and, on the other hand, to the problem of lack of pathologists.

“This by providing them with a complete solution to help them deliver a quality pathological diagnosis, quickly and efficiently,” reads a press release published by the start-up.

Thus, the founders aim, through this fundraising, to deploy new sites, to accelerate the recruitment of teams and finally to quickly position themselves as a key player in Medtech in Morocco and Africa.

In detail, the DataPathology team’s mission is to deliver the pathological diagnosis quickly and securely for the benefit of patients.

This involves a process of preparing the human tissue sample on the patient’s examination site (biopsy), its scanning, then the transfer of the patient’s digital file in a secure and anonymous manner, via a web platform, to the medical team for diagnosis.

This Board ensures medical and scientific activity and participates in the validation and publication of Artificial Intelligence algorithms applied in diagnostic aid.

Startup today aspires to expand the network of laboratories in Morocco and Africa, then to consolidate the network and logistics necessary to increase the volume of data to be integrated and processed within the platform.

It previously forged partnerships with international players in digital health, installed a first digital pathological diagnostic center in the kingdom and started serious discussions in African countries with high cancer diagnostic potential.

The founders aim through this fundraising to deploy new sites, to accelerate the recruitment of teams and finally to position themselves quickly as a key player in Medtech in Morocco and Africa.
