Michael Rivers
Vice President Lifecycle Leader for Digital Pathology at Roche

Michael joined Roche Diagnostics in 2006 and has been Lifecycle Leader for Digital Pathology since October 2015. In this role, he leads the Digital Pathology team in Santa Clara, California to develop and commercialize the Digital Pathology portfolio of products and technology for Roche. Michael also is a Past President of the Digital Pathology Association and has been a member of the DPA Board of Directors since 2015. Michael has held a number of sales and marketing leadership roles at Roche and is passionate about the opportunity to transform cancer diagnostics with Digital Pathology.

Dr. Marta Canamero, MD, PhD
Medical Affairs Oncology Lead at Roche (EMEA-LATAM region)

Dr. Cañamero is a Medical Affairs Oncology Lead at Roche Dia (EMEA-LATAM region), with a focus on Digital Pathology. Before, she worked at Roche Pharma for 10 years as the Head of the Pathology Core Labs in Penzberg (Germany), leading a team of scientists and technicians in charge of designing and executing research and development project strategies for early phase clinical trials. Prior, she was the Head of the Comparative Pathology and the Histopathology Units at the Centro Nacional de Investigaciones Oncológicas (CNIO) for 11 years, where she focused on translational research and was an early adopter of digital pathology tools. She is a co-author of more than 80 scientific papers and has several patents. She is passionate about bringing new medical and technology tools into the pathology lab and the clinical practice for the benefit of the patients.

Dr. Markus D. Herrmann, MD, PhD
Senior Medical Director for Personalized Healthcare at Roche

Dr. Herrmann is an interdisciplinary physician-scientist at the intersection of medicine, biology, and computer science with dual doctoral degrees in medicine and the natural sciences. Prior to joining Roche, Markus served as Assistant Professor of Pathology at Harvard Medical School and Director of Computational Pathology at the Massachusetts General Hospital. He has also been actively engaged in the development of standards for digital and computational pathology and holds various leadership positions at national and international organizations, including the Digital Pathology Association and the American College of Pathology.

Dr. Christoph Guetter, PhD
Director of Algorithm Development at Roche

Dr. Guetter is a Director of Algorithm Development for Roche Diagnostics Solutions. He currently leads a team that is responsible for the development of commercial digital pathology algorithms. Christoph has established the clinical algorithm development program to productize artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms that analyze primary and advanced staining markers. He received his PhD in Computer Science from the University of Erlangen while working in industry at Siemens Corporate Research, Inc. Over the course of his career, Christoph has researched and developed various image analysis technologies and algorithms in radiology and digital pathology. His passion is to bring high medical value algorithms from research stage to market commercialization and regulatory approval using artificial intelligence, computer vision, and/or pattern recognition methods.
