Collaborating and partnering with start-ups are key to a thriving innovation ecosystem. It allows us, Siemens Healthineers, to take promising ideas and quickly turn them into impactful solutions at scale.

I would like to highlight how we are doing this. A good example is our partnership with Proscia. This start-up has turned its idea into a software solution with great potential to improve the clinical workflow and the patient journeys around the world. Typically, clinicians from different disciplines and departments work together to discuss each individual patient case, especially the more complex ones require more attention. Largely pathologists still diagnose human tissues by viewing them under their microscopes manually.

Proscia’s Concentriq platform empowers the modern laboratory as they embrace pathology’s computational future. It is a versatile tool for the digital pathology workflow and the management of image slides. With this platform, medical professionals can analyze patient samples, share and discuss them with their interdisciplinary colleagues using the devices at their fingertips – remotely on a tablet computer or even on a cell phone. This saves valuable time in the decision-making process and allows many more patients to benefit from their expertise.

We started interacting with David West and his team. Our purposes to fight cancer matched, the technology was a fit, and we found common ground with a business case. This tool is now embedded in our Syngo Carbon system. By combining our expertise, we’re leveraging synergies which have a real impact in clinical routines and future medicine.

I am a firm believer that collaboration and partnerships unlock hidden potentials empowering company’s in delivering innovations benefitting patients, medical staff, and hospitals. And I look forward to seeing how the next promising ideas are transformed into impactful and scalable solutions that will make healthcare systems more resilient to the challenges that lie ahead. Together, we are pioneering breakthroughs in healthcare. For everyone. Everywhere. Sustainably.
